The Best Electric Toothbrush Reviews

For me, personally, I haven’t used a regular non-powered toothbrush for at least 15 years. The very first time I used an electric toothbrush I was hooked, and it wasn’t even a good one. I just liked the way it made my teeth feel so much cleaner, like they’d been buffed and polished. I’ve heard some people complain that they don’t like the way an electric toothbrush vibrates inside their mouth and it feels like it’s going to rattle their teeth loose. You soon get used to that sensation and a powered toothbrush is not going to loosen your teeth.

In this post I’ll do mini reviews of some of the top selling models for sale on Amazon. Some will be cheaper than others. This will give you an overview of what’s on the market and what they offer for the money. This list is in no particular order.

Oral-B PRO 1000 Electric Rechargeable Power Toothbrush Powered by Braun

Oral-B PRO 1000 Electric Rechargeable Power Toothbrush Powered by BraunThis is a #1 bestseller on Amazon in its category. Fitted with a Deep Sweep head that removes up to 100% more plaque than an ordinary manual toothbrush, the Oral-B PRO 1000 uses a 3D cleaning action that sweeps from side to side. It also pulsates to help break up the plaque and remove it. The handle has in-built timers to let you know when to switch areas of your mouth and even has a 2 minute alarm so you know when you’ve brushed for the dentist-recommended length of time. It has a pressure sensor that stops pulsations if it senses you are brushing too hard. Sounds like a rather technical toothbrush, but it’s as easy to use as any other toothbrush. It comes with a rechargeable battery and plug in charger. At the current price it’s a very good buy.

Black 7000 Smart Series Electric Toothbrush With Bluetooth Powered by Braun

Black 7000 Smart Series Electric Toothbrush With Bluetooth Powered by BraunSleek, modern and stylish, this model is for the connoisseur of electric toothbrushes, with a price tag to match. While the Black 7000 might be a bit overkill for a toothbrush, it does have some pretty cool features. It’s the first toothbrush of its kind to use Bluetooth technology to communicate with a Smartphone. Why would you want to do this? Via an app it gives you real time feedback on your brushing habits. If you’re pedantic enough to care about this, then it’s the right toothbrush for you. Equipped with a 3D head, this model vibrates, pulsates, oscillates and rotates to remove that plaque and get those teeth squeaky clean. It comes with a timer built into the charging station and has 6 different brushing modes, including a tongue clean. There is a white model, but I think the black one looks sexier.

iBrush SonicWave Electric Toothbrush With UV Sanitiser

iBrush SonicWave Electric Toothbrush With UV SanitiserThis is a mid-range model of powered toothbrush, both in price and quality. The iBrush uses sonic technology rather than rotation to clean teeth. It comes in a sleek black design, equipped with 3 toothbrush heads, so you have a couple of spares. The UV sanitiser kills 99.9% of bacteria in the brush head, making it clean and healthy and ready for its next use. The charging dock is water-resistant and the toothbrush battery will hold a charge for up to 6 weeks use on a single charge. Once again there is a 2 minute timer so you are prompted to brush for the recommended length of time. This model is actually super fast and powerful, with the brush motoring along at 48,000 strokes per minute.

Emmi-Dent 6 100% Ultrasonic Toothbrush

Emmi-Dent 6 Ultrasonic ToothbrushThis is the only one on the list that actually uses ultrasound technology to clean teeth. This model is renowned to be effective in deep cleaning, protecting teeth, gums, roots and implants. Brighten your teeth effortlessly. No chemicals or bleaching. Ultrasound and Nano-Bubbles effectively remove everyday stains from food, wine, coffee and cigarettes. The science of the Nano-Bubbles is their size, so small that they penetrate even the tiniest gaps between teeth to keep them clean and fight decay. The kit comes with the handpiece, 2 brush heads, charger and 1 tube of Nano-Bubbles toothpaste. With 84 million oscillations per minute, there is no comparison to how well this toothbrush cleans.

The Final Wash Up

Out of this list of five electric toothbrush models, I have only used the Braun one that I mentioned first and it does a great job. Going by technological specs, then I would say the Emmi-Dent would be the winner for the most thorough teeth clean, but judging by customer reviews on Amazon, then the winner would be the Philips Sonicare, as it has the highest score with an average of 4.6 stars out of 5.

I have to keep drumming it into my kids….keep your teeth clean. Especially now they are losing there milk teeth. There are so many types of toothbrush around at the moment its not funny. Some really great ones here!! Can you recommend any that would be suitable for 5 year olds to use? Or are these a little bit too much for them at the moment to handle?

It’s very interesting that you should ask that question, Carl, as I very nearly included one in my review. On Amazon there are actually several models of electric toothbrush designed specifically for kids. Just click through to Amazon and search electric toothbrushes and you’ll see a few. They’re very affordable, too.

I really didn’t know there were so many electric toothbrushes on the market. I have always bought an oral B and I’m on my third one at the moment. Like you, after using an electric toothbrush for years, the manual type just doesn’t cut it. In fact, after being forced to use one after mine died on me, I was surprised at how it just didn’t seem to clean my teeth at all and I was brushing for a good 5 minutes. Although your review says that buyers gave the Philips Sonicare the highest rating, I don’t think I will probably change from the Braun oral B. I suppose it’s what you get used to and it does always do a good job and compared to the others, it’s really good value for money. Thanks for the information though. Ches

Thanks for reading Ches. I must admit I’ve always stuck to the Braun Oral B electric toothbrushes as well. Like you I’m just used to that brand.

Hello here, you have some great reviews of tools, which help to maintain our personal hygiene.
Nowadays, when so many products are on market, it is not easy to choose one best, which can fit our needs.
I never tried electric toothbrush, but my friends have them. I am more in old fashioned way, when I think that people become lazy and can not do some simple tasks by themselves.
Anyway here is my opinion, which is from personal point of view.
I think that you do great job, giving your visitors options to choose from one or another brand.
Thanks, all the best, happy writing, Nemira.

Once you use an electric toothbrush you will never go back. It’s not about being lazy. You still have to move it around just like a regular toothbrush, but they clean your teeth so much more effectively and leave them feeling polished.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.
