Get Longer Eyelashes Naturally and Fast!

Get Longer Eyelashes Naturally and FastAll the hype lately is to have longer, thicker eyelashes; especially in the world of models, celebrities and stardom. Mascara, fake eyelashes or eyelash extensions are the three most common ways to achieve this, but what else can ladies do to get longer eyelashes naturally and fast?

Mascara for longer lashesLet’s face it, fake eyelashes look fake, and mascara isn’t exactly creating longer and thicker lashes naturally. Basically they’re being painted on. Lets take a look at what other options there are to grow long eyelashes.

Massaging For Eyelash Growth

Massage is beneficial for any sort of hair growth. It is a common practice for thinning hair on the head and is also used to try and stimulate regrowth for anyone who has gone bald (mostly men, but it can happen to women occasionally, too). The eyelash area, namely the eyelids, can respond favourably to a massage as well; encouraging blood flow to the region to promote the growth of thicker, longer and more lush lashes.

Be sure to have nice clean hands before doing an eyelid massage, as you don’t want anything to irritate your eyes. Also be sure to remove all make up before starting. All you will do is use your fingers to gently massage the eyelids – top and bottom – stroking out along the lashes. Try and do this once a day or at least four times a week for the quickest and best results. And do it gently so as not to pull any eyelashes loose.

Brushing

Sounds kinda weird, but there are actually tiny little combs made especially for combing the eyelashes. Generally they are used to brush the lashes out before applying mascara, but combing your eyelashes regularly can also promote their growth, as well as making them shine with lustre and look more attractive.

Eating Your Way To Longer Eyelashes

Foods rich in keratin are the best choice for hair growth. Following is a quick list that will not only be great for your eyelash growth, but also for the hair on your head, and your nails as well.

  • Healthy SandwichSpinach
  • Sweet potato
  • Broccoli
  • Chicken and turkey
  • Mango
  • Carrots
  • Squash
  • Cantaloupe

In addition to this, eating healthy amounts of protein will further encourage eyelash growth as well as adding strength to both you hair and nails.

Vaseline

Some women swear this stuff makes their eyelashes longer in time, so I thought it was worth mentioning here.

The idea is to apply a little Vaseline to the eyelids before bed and letting it work its magic while you sleep. Only put on a light smear. I’m not sure what the science is behind this tip. Perhaps it has something to do with the oil content in Vaseline. Anyway, it’s supposed to work, so maybe give it a try.

Olive Oil BottleOlive Oil

This is a similar technique to the Vaseline one. Once again apply a smear of olive oil to the eyelids right before bedtime, letting it nourish the eyelashes and hair follicles while you sleep. Olive oil is one of the good oils and has been known to be great for healthy and shiny hair. Certainly worth a go. It’s packed full of vitamins and essential minerals, so it sure can’t do any harm.

You could also try the same approach with fish oil, though be sure to purchase the ‘odourless’ variety of the capsules. Pierce the end of a capsule with a pin and apply directly to the eyelids. Fish oil is fantastic for hair health and great for adding shine.

Vitamin E Cream

Vitamin E is nourishing for the skin and also an essential vitamin for healthy hair. Once again it is best to nourish the eyelids just before bedtime. With the Vitamin E cream massage a little into the eyelashes themselves as well as the eyelids, feeding nourishment direct to the hair. The cream will give your lashes a beautiful lustre by the time you awake in the morning.

Biotin and Vitamin B Complex

One of the B vitamins, biotin is like a super food for hair growth. Find Vitamin B capsules that contain at least 5000 mg of biotin and take daily. It’ll provide great nourishment for growing out your lashes as well as your main hair. B vitamins are also awesome for giving you an energy boost and for relieving stress, so they are win-win no matter what.

Curl Your Lashes

Eyelash CurlerStraight eyelashes have the appearance of being shorter, not to mention less interesting to look at. If you don’t already have one, invest in an eyelash curler. It will give your eyelashes some extra body and bounce, as well as making them appear thicker and longer. When using the curler, do it gently. The last thing you want to do is go tugging on your lashes and pulling some out. That kind of defeats the purpose of trying to make them thicker and longer. Eyelash curlers aren’t expenses and every woman should have one in her beauty arsenal.

Keep Eyes Clean and Avoid Excessive Rubbing

Keeping your eyes and lashes clean will not only lead to better looking and healthier eyes, it’ll also help maintain the health and strength of your eyelashes and their important roots. Don’t delay with removing that make up when you no longer need to wear it, and never go to bed with eye make up still on. There is nothing worse for the health of both your eyes and lashes than doing this. Always be gentle when removing eye make up. Never tug or pull on the lashes or eyelids. Even if you don’t end up pulling any lashes out, you will weaken them at their roots, or possibly break them so they are even shorter.

If you are suffering from hay fever, allergies, tired eyes or any sort of eye irritation at all, avoid the urge to rub your eyes. Apart from making your irritation worse and causing red eye, you will also inadvertently pull eyelashes out from their roots and break others. Instead, gently wash the eyes with a saline solution and some cotton balls, then add some eye drops to soothe the irritation. Keeping eye drops in the fridge can make the effect even more refreshing, as well as making the drops last longer past their use by date.

Green Tea

Hailed as a wonder herb for eyelash growth, give green tea a try. After brewing some in a cup, apply with a cotton bud directly to the eyelashes. Leave on overnight and wash off thoroughly first thing in the morning. Do this for several weeks to start seeing results.

I’m a guy and really don’t think about my eyelashes all that much, but I do find long lashes on a woman very attractive.

In your post, you mentioned two of my favorite things, sweet potatoes and green tea. These are my secret weapons to good health and aging well. I have no doubt they will enrich a woman’s eyelashes.

I’m finishing a cup of green tea now bu will refrain from dabbing it on my eyelashes like you suggest. Coincidentally, I also had sweet potatoes for breakfast.

I don’t try to enhance my eyelashes either, to be quite honest, but long lashes certainly look hot on women!

I think green tea is good for lots of things, from what I’ve researched. It comes up everywhere as a health benefit to just about everything.

Thanks for all the interesting info. I really liked your suggestion of cutting back the carbs and adding more protein as they don’t store fat as easily. I was wondering, what do you think about a chicken salad with your normal veggies in there (cucumber avacado, carrot shreds, etc) and a few pieces of fruit everyday. Would I be missing anything nutritionally? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi Christian. I think your comment was meant for a different post on my site, but that’s cool. I think your suggestion covers most of what you need, but always include some healthy oils in your diet, like olive oil and fish oil; and don’t cut out carbs completely, just cut back on them and eat low GI carbs like whole grains. Stuff that isn’t highly processed.

I have always had fair eyelashes which are really short. Sounds attractive huh? But I have always been so jealous of those people with luscious long dark eyelashes. Including my husband. So unfair!

So this is a great article for me. I am a bit of a sucker for products, so I think I will dive straight in and give your recommendation a try. Are there any customer reviews of this product? I will let you know how I get on!

Thanks for reading Ruth. Let us know how you get on with the products. Cheers.
